Newborns and infants who are breastfed receive most of the ingredients they need as a gift. The exception is vitamin D and K, which contain too little breast milk to provide the baby with the optimal amount. Immediately after birth, the child should take this dose either intramuscularly or orally. This is very important as vitamin K deficiency may result in hemorrhages. 

Contrary to popular belief, additional vitamin C for babies is not necessary – in the case of the youngest, the entire requirement is covered by the mother’s milk or modified milk. As the child grows up, large amounts of vitamin C are taken in with food. For this reason, a varied diet is crucial – a healthy child who is not manifested by vitamin deficiencies does not need supplements. 

It is also worth knowing that the excessive amount of vitamins taken may burden the kidneys and liver, and cause unpleasant ailments, such as digestive system disorders, weakness and heaviness, and in some cases lead to kidney stones and kidney failure.
