Snacks on the go

Most of us have a fairly busy schedule when it comes to our daily lives. Exercise programs, full-time jobs, family, kids, play dates and fitting in a date night are only a few of the things that keep us running and back and forth every day. We’re living a fast-paced life and there’s not much we can do about it except keep going and planning everything accordingly.

With everyone running from a to b and making sure the kids are picked up and baking perfect Pinterest cupcakes your diet can be left in the dust. It’s so much easier to head to the closest drive through and order a meal or snack then it is to stop and run into a shop during a busy day. Everything is so convenient and so fast but it leaves anything nutritional out on the curb. If you’ve worked your butt off lifting or doing that spin class in the mornings you’re only going to put yourself ten steps back when you opt for something unhealthy instead of planning ahead a little bit and having a healthy snack on hand in your purse or car.

Nowadays there are plenty of healthy options that you can eat on the go that won’t pack on the kilograms. It will also save you money in the long run because you won’t be heading to the drive-through to get a meal every time you start feeling peckish or hungry. You’ll have a healthy, nutritious snack on hand that will keep you satiated until dinner time, and then you won’t have to feel guilty if you have an extra serving of the delicious lasagne.

There are plenty of healthy alternative snacks you can stock up on during a trip to the grocery store or even just ordering it online.

Hard-boiled eggs

The first healthy snack that you can actually prep at home is hard-boiled eggs. It’s cheap and packed full of protein which will curb any cravings or hunger pangs you might have when 3 o’clock hits.

Fruit chips

Ever heard of making chips from apples? Well now you can, there are plenty of recipes on how to make these delicious snacks online. Just remember to sprinkle some cinnamon over it, it will taste like apple pie if you do.

Or if that’s too much effort, taking an apple or two to work will also do the trick.

Yoghurt

With all these new jars and containers that have come out, it’s now possible to keep your yoghurt chilled until you’re peckish or hungry enough to dig in.

The thing with yoghurt is, you can mix in all kinds of fruit, nuts and granola to make something that you’ll look forward to eating.

Quest Bars

If you haven’t heard of Quest Bars, where have you been? This delicious low-carb snack bar has been gaining popularity in all the fitness circles. It has zero junk in it and the ingredients are all things that you know. No added sugar and there are so many flavours to choose from, you’ll have to try a new one every day.

Protein  Shake

The protein shake is definitely a strong contender when it comes to a quick snack or meal. You can tailor make it to your taste and how many calories you want to take in. With so many delicious flavours and types of protein powder, you just have to find one or two that you really love and make it with your favourite fruits, veggies, nuts and milk. Don’t stick to one flavour for too long otherwise you’ll get tired of it and make a dash for the closest Maccy D’s.

Making healthier choices isn’t hard, it’s simply taking the time to plan what you’ll be having in the late afternoon or when you’ve missed lunch because of a meeting.
